LIGHT BECKONS – IMAGES IN BLACK AND WHITE

Under the canopy of a tree-lined trail light patterns sparkle.
Nearing a bend it darkens as trees thicken though light at tunnels end still beckons onward.
To capture these fleeting moments when color is gone overcome with the effect of light against dark I found charcoal, graphite and ink.
During the creation process I found myself again on the trail and wondered about other subjects with colors reduced to the effect of extreme lighting. As a result I found black and white shorebirds reflected in wet sand, fall leaves dancing across sunrise sidewalks and people on harsh, bright winter days. The effect of light continues to compel me to explore and wonder what tomorrow will bring. |
